BlueEFFICIENCY from Mercedes-Benz stands for pioneering efficiency technology as well as innovative packages of measures based on optimising fuel consumption and emission levels.
Equipment availability depends on the engine and configuration selected. You will find details in the equipment information for each model.
BlueEFFICIENCY measures are comprehensive vehicle optimisations that help save fuel and ease the burden on the environment. In the new GLE Coupé, too, the most efficient engines are combined with the best features available, to keep fuel consumption to a minimum. These include:
Extraordinary vehicle streamlining has a decisive influence on the vehicle's fuel consumption. That's why when planning the new GLE Coupé we applied state-of-the-art test procedures in order to develop measures tending to reduce drag as far as possible.
One of these measures, which was adopted for the new GLE Coupé, is the aerodynamically-shaped spoiler lip on the tailgate. It noticeably reduces lift at the rear axle.
Apart from this, underbody and engine-compartment panelling, which optimises outflow of cooling air from the engine compartment and prevents flow loss caused by flow obstruction and turbulence around the vehicle underbody, contribute towards an excellent drag coefficient.
This first-class aerodynamics can be experienced directly in the vehicle interior, too: Noise caused by air flow and vibrations were eliminated to a large extent.
What's the easiest way to save fuel and reduce emission levels? By having the engine automatically switched off whenever it's not needed. Engine off when the vehicle is stationary, the engine switches on again when the brake is released or the accelerator pedal is depressed.
Automatically switching off the engine when stationary, for example in tailbacks or at traffic lights, lowers fuel consumption and emissions and saves fuel costs. The ECO start/stop function operates particularly effectively, quickly and quietly.
Great importance was attached to using materials in the new GLE Coupé that are low on emissions and recyclable, right from the early development stages. The new GLE Coupé achieves a materials recycling level of 85 percent and recoverability of 95 percent according to the ISO 22628 calculation model.
Examples of environmentally materials and processes include:
