"The best or nothing" is the guiding principle in all of Mercedes-Benz's developments - the same applies for the petrol engine for the new S-Class Coupé. That is why our developers have designed engines that unleash the maximum power from every drop of petrol. The engines now work more efficiently, are sparing with natural resources and go easy on the environment.
A combination of different innovative engine technologies make these excellent performance figures possible. The direct petrol injection and two compact turbochargers with intercooling, for example, lead to a fast response from the engine and optimised thermodynamic efficiency.
Intelligently combined high-tech systems ensure a unique performance envelope with minimal fuel consumption. They include e.g. the NANOSLIDE lining of the cylinder sleeves as well as kinetic energy recuperation during braking and coasting in the Controlled Efficiency transmission mode.
